Meet Sunday Morning

A Bunch of Cool People

  • Janek with an open mouth smile holding a white pillow with a yellow smiley face

    Janek Gonsalkoralev

Janek Gonsalkorale is a Sydney born, Toronto based professional man child. He has received rave reviews for his performance of pretending how cars work. When he isn’t misquoting 2000’s movies you can find him in improv shows that are close to his apartment such as Blockbuster week or Inflatable Unicorn. If none of the above applies you can find him in the rock climbing gym where he watches climbers of all ages surpass his limited abilities.

  • Virginia holding a shot glass to her mouth looking semi-surprised at the viewer

    Virginia Hyland

Virginia grew up on a dairy farm before moving to Toronto to live on the 14th coolest street in the world. The dairy farm has yet to win any awards. Virginia has performed in shows across Toronto from Comedy Bar Bloor to Comedy Bar Danforth. One time, a guy on Hinge even recognized her from an 11PM Saturday night show that only had 12 attendees. Spooky! But famous?! When not on stage making ghost sex jokes, Virginia is performing in boardrooms as a Sales Engineer where she delivers the funniest demos on supply chain tech that Procurement professionals have ever seen.

  • Thomas looking at the viewer as he holds a bottle of windex to his temple

    Thomas Mattacchione

Thomas Mattacchione is a Toronto born and Port Perry raised improv comedian. He's been performing Improv comedy across Toronto for the past two years. While relatively new to the game, his performances have been characterized as "vulnerable", "intelligent" and "like he just needs attention or something". Unlike other members of Sunday Morning, he's still waiting for his, "Hey, you're that guy from that improv show" moment. When he's not performing, he's hyping Risa.

  • Cecile warmly sipping a cup of coffee looking at the camera dead center.

    Cecile Monteyne

Cecile Monteyne has spent the better part of the last six years trying to impart the wisdom of improv to her three, very young, sons. She considers it a super day when she has the capacity not only to shower, throw on some mascara, make lunches, work, but also instill the power of “yes and” to her brood of dudes. Before discovering the beauty of parenting improv, she was an actor, improviser and producer in New Orleans. When she’s not making stuff up with Sunday Morning, she’s baking, dancing in the kitchen with her husband and kids, and working to save endangered forests. Oh and walking the dog.

  • Frank is listening to music, tilting her head looking up at a bagel being passed to her.

    Francis Nicholson

Originally hailing from Sydney, Australia, she found her passion for improv as a tool for confidence-building and community connection. Her journey led her to the vibrant improv scene of Toronto, where she found her fellow players in Sunday Morning! Frank loves to find the fun in every moment; her favourite exercise, "milk the milk," never fails to leave her fellow players in stitches, especially the infamous Risa. Frank always looks forward to Sunday Morning’s monthly show where she can let her inner child roam free. From pre-show rituals like the essential pre-show pee to the post-show tradition of bagels and drinks, every show this troupe puts on is a hoot!

  • Risa sitting center frame with hair curlers looking displeased as she drinks a coffee.

    Risa Sheriff

Risa started improvising in 2016 when she lived in the Washington, D.C. area. After moving back to Toronto in 2022, she jumped feet first into the improv scene here and is elated to be part of Sunday Morning. Most recently, she’s been nursing a budding interest in storytelling, and is proud that she managed to tell a 5-minute story to an audience without soiling her undies. When not being hyped by Thomas, Risa spends her time anthropomorphizing her dog, Luna, who she relies on for moral support and inspiration. Most days, she can be seen walking with Luna along the streets of Toronto, extolling the dog’s ability to sit, stay, and give psychotherapeutic advice.
